Mel Carubia (they/them) is an writer, composer and performer based in the Boston area. They wrote the music and lyrics for the award-winning T: An MBTA Musical, a lampoon of our nation's first public transit system (playing through 2025 at the Rockwell), and Beneath the Skin, a musical breaking down the stigma of mental illness. Summer 2023 brought the critically acclaimed world premiere of Born To Do This: The Joan of Arc Rock Opera, for which they wrote the music and lyrics. They sing and play keytar in synth-rock band Minusworld, whose EP, Dancing In the Ashes, is available on all major music platforms. They have a degree in Physics from Boston College, a masters in Composition from The Longy School of Music, and over a decade of experience working as a professional improviser with both ImprovBoston and Urban Improv. They love telling stories and doing silly accents playing roleplaying games, making up songs about their five cats, and can't get enough hot sauce, ever.
